About the bean:
Café Don Claudio is a signature micro-lot produced by CoopeAgri, named in honour of Don Claudio—the coperative's founding president who championed unity and resilience among coffee growers in the 1950s and 60s. This coffee is sourced exclusively from four selected producers, whose farms lie on steep, volcanic slopes in the Perez Zeledon region.
The cherries come from young coffee  plantations, between three and five years into active production chosen for their vigour and high cup quality potential. To preserve full traceability and integrity, these lots are coded at the farm, harvested by hand, and transported separately to CoopeAgri's central wet mill.
CoopeAgri operates one of Costa Rica's most advanced coffee facilities. With extensive technical support for its members and strict quality protocols, the cooperative ensures consistency from farm through to export. It's wet and dry mills are designed for environmental efficiency, using water and energy saving systems to minimise impact while upholding high standards.
