Kenya Mtaro Natural - Filter Roast
About the bean:
Mtaro Estate is located in Kiambu County, just 40 km north of Nairobi,in the fertile highlands of the Aberdare range—an area renowned for producing some of Kenya’s finest coffees. Specializing solely in coffee cultivation, Mtaro Estate benefits from deep, red-brown Kikuyu loam soils with high water and nutrient retention—ideal for growing clean,
bold, and high-quality beans.
To maintain both quality and productivity, Mtaro follows a five-year conversion cycle, which promotes higher yields and greater disease resistance. Practices such
as pruning, mulching, and timely weeding support the sustainability of
its 350–400-tonne annual production.
Cherries are pulped using water efficient equipment that also enhances quality by separating heavier beans. Fermentation and drying are carefully managed to preserve
the coffee’s signature green hue and flavor integrity.
Drying occurs in two closely monitored phases, with moisture levels maintained between 10.5–11% before milling. Mtaro Estate exemplifies disciplined farming, expert processing, and a deep commitment to producing Kenya’s premium coffees.
